Be a part of MVFD’s long-term success!

To ensure a high standard of public safety, now and in the future, we have started an endowment to support Mount Vernon Fire Department’s mission in the following areas:

Equipment & Supplies: Firefighters use highly specialized tools to get their work done safely. We help fill in the gaps where the annual budget may fall short.

Recruitment & Retention: Mount Vernon firefighters volunteer their time responding to calls and training. We support them through activities thanking them, and their families!

Profesional Development: Training never stops. Our firefighters are always training in various areas to more efectively respond to emergencies.

Public Relations: Through education and outreach, we hope to prevent fires and accidents from happening.

Memorial: We honor the service of our past members and support them and their families in their time of need.

The Endow Iowa Tax Credit is an Iowa state program that incentivizes charitable giving to eligible organizations, such as the Mount Vernon Fire Department endowment.

Donors who contribute to qualified charities can receive a tax credit equal to 25% of their donation, up to a maximum of $300,000 per year. This credit is in addition to any federal tax deductions that may apply to the donation.

To qualify for the Endow Iowa Tax Credit, donations must be made to eligible charitable organizations that are registered with the Iowa Council of Foundations. The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, which oversees the Mount Vernon Fire Department endowment, is a registered organization under this program.

By donating to the Mount Vernon Fire Department endowment, you can support public safety in your community and benefit from the Endow Iowa Tax Credit. This program allows you to give back while also reducing your Iowa state tax liability.
